LOCATION

Situated approximately 3 kilometres from the village of Lajatico in Tuscany on top of rolling hills, Agriturismo Trieste is composed of three farm buildings rebuilt in 1994-95 to provide 13 apartments. From the swimming pool there are 360-degree views across the hills and on a clear day you can see the Apuan Alps beyond Pisa to the north.

Trieste is located in the fascinating landscape of the Val d'Era hills, among flower fields and woodland, and offers not only a restful holiday in contact with nature but also the opportunity to visit some of the most important Tuscan cities. Mountain bikes are also available for the use of guests.

THE RIPANUCCI FAMILY

The farm, with its 700 hectares of arable and grazing land, is owned by the Ripanucci family, who have for many years devoted themselves to farming, offering a variety of Tuscan products to enable guests to enjoy the real flavour of simple things.

Close to the Agriturismo is a restaurant run by the family where it is possible to sample typical Tuscan cuisine accompanied by excellent local wine.

THE POOL

The 23 metre swimming pool is adjacent to the apartments and is surrounded on all sides by wide paving.

There are plenty of sunbeds and deckchairs spread around the pool, and at one end there are wide steps to allow children and disabled guests to enter the pool in complete safety.

THE APARTMENTS

The old buildings of Podere Trieste have been restored, respecting the traditional architecture, and are divided into 13 apartments all with independent entrances and typical rustic Tuscan furniture. Each apartment has a fridge, electric oven and gas hob, plenty of cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery, and a bathroom with shower.

Accommodation is from a two-person apartment to one that can take six. The double beds are vast and comfortable, the singles are either divan or sofa beds.

ACCESSIBILITY

All apartments have independent central heating and two of them are suitable for handicapped guests. The three buildings, Casa Nova, Casa Vecchia and Casina, have maintained their original aspect despite being fitted with modern comforts.

CASA NOVA

On the west side is Casa Nova, consisting of seven apartments, each perfectly restored, each with its own entrance from the courtyard.

Guests who appreciate a quiet holiday will find peace in the spacious garden, sitting in the shade of a holm oak, enjoying the Tuscan country air perfumed by the ripe corn and field poppies.

CASA VECCHIA & LA CASINA

Casa Vecchia is an old farmhouse offering four apartments, whilst 'La Casina' is the smallest building of Podere Trieste. Originally an old barn, it has been restored to contain two apartments.

The surrounding gardens are fringed by cypresses and is enriched by fragrant spring flowers and colourful oleander.

SERVICES

For the guests' use there is a laundry room and a private lounge with satellite TV. There is also a table tennis table in the main reception room and a climbing frame for small children in part of the garden.
